"Contador suspended for one year?"

Tuesday 25 January 2011 MADRID - Triple Tour de France winner Alberto Contador will proberly hear Thursday a one year suspension being imposed by the disciplinary committee of the Spanish cycling federation REFC. This Spanish media reported Tuesday.
The ball is cast, the suspension was delivered on Wednesday, January 26, and this means his last tour victory Contador will be lost, that one will go to the number two Andy Schleck. The strange thing is that the Spanish cycling federation takes Contador's statement for true, about eating contaminated meat, and gives him only a ban for one year instead of 2 years which are usual.
If that really would be true, so no intent from Contador, he would be acquitted. But not only clenbuterol was detected, also traces of plastificiders, which indicates the use of infusions, and in Contadors own words that is not the case. Infusions are also not allowed without a doctor’s permission. All in all it points to the use of prohibited means and methods by the rider.
Contador has already indicated he will go to appeal, he can do that at the international sports tribunal CAS. I don’t gibe him much change.
No doubt we will hear a lot more about this case ....
The Spanish rider tested positive on the second rest day of the Tour de France, traces of the prohibited substance Clenbuterol were found. According to sports daily Marca the sentence will be pronounced Thursday. Contador, who claims to be innocent, then has ten days to appeal. "Everything indicates that he is suspended for one year and his last victory in the Tour de France will be taken away," said Marca. The rival AS also speaks of one year suspension.
The message came out, they could not get around it, a big blow to Contador and cycling in general.
